HISTORY AND BACKGROUND
ZONTA GREATER RIZAL II
VISION
Club 1395’s vision is to provide women and their children within its area of responsibility, access to social and medical services that are necessary for their health and well-being, as well as provide a clear understanding of health and safety issues that affect them.
MISSION
The Zonta Club in Area I, Metropolitan Manila, known as Greater Rizal II, has for its mission the improvement of the status of women and children worldwide with special emphasis on Filipinos, who are part of its geographic jurisdiction.
The club will achieve its goals by fostering women’s equality in education, health, and economics; and by providing social and legal services without regard to status, color, creed or social orientation.
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
From 2014 to 2016, our Zonta team of Greater Rizal II is focused on women in the local communities, girl-children in and out of school, and educators and medical personnel who are responsible for women’s health and safety.
There is much poverty and violence all around as statistics tell us. Teenage pregnancy has alarmingly increased and parents are at a loss as to how to deal with this phenomenon. At the heart of the problem is a lack of education and opportunity. For our members, the desire to help finds expression in the Zonta activities that we are engaging in: a series of medical missions in the poorest communities of informal settlers, a series of sessions in public high schools on gender and development, formation of Z and Golden Z clubs for our younger sisters, and distribution of goods for disaster-prone areas.
In all these, the Zonta spirit of civic duty and sharing of resources to the less-advantaged sectors stands out as Club members find an avenue for their own skills and talents. We are humbled by the encouraging feedback from partners and beneficiaries.
So much more to do and so little time, but the rewards are great, for happiness in sharing uplifts us and makes us reach to the sky for greater accomplishments. We look forward to an even more challenging year ahead with the hope that as we empower our women, our families, and our communities, prosperity is just a helping hand away.

Ano-ano ang kadalasang nangyayari? At maari ring nangyari kina Mina at Rowel kung hindi sila nagabayan at binigyang suporta ng kanilang mga magulang, paaralan, at pamayanan? |
• Pinapalayas/itinatakwil
• Nagiging school drop-out
• Nagsisi sila at umamin sa pagkakamali
• Nagpakatotoo si Rowel
• Hindi sila pinilit ikasal
• Nagsumikap sa pag-aaral
• Binuhay ang anak at minahal
• Inako pa rin ng magulang
• Pag-unawa at gabay ng Teacher
• Pagbabago paglawak ng pag-iisip ng teacher
• Pagpatupad ng kanilang pagmamahal sa kasalan, pagbasbas

Note to Teen Guides: “How to Use This Handbook”
‘Out of Love, and Into It . . Eh, di HUWAG!’
The case of Mina and Rowel is based on a true story, the names of characters have been changed. Teenage unplanned pregnancies are increasing rapidly and many teen sexuality education programs are trying to address this problem.
This comics-style handbook can be distributed and used as a discussion take-off for:
a. Surfacing teens’ current issues about sex, gender, sexuality and love
b. Opening up relational issues between peers, parents, and special friends
c. Expounding on the facts and value of fertility and fertility care
d. Helping teens formulate their future aspirations
e. Parenting styles: what works, what doesn’t
f. Empowering girls and women with knowledge, communication skills, and recognizing demeaning treatment
g. Guiding teens towards sexual mastery and responsible sexual behavior.
Suggested strategies:
a. Divide the participants into smaller groups to maximize participation and interaction.
b. Ask them to come up with a summary of their discussion and present this in the big group.
c. A good strategy is to ask them to express their learnings from the discussion of the case in the form of a jingle, a cheer, a poem, a letter or key messages to a younger sibling or friend, or a role-play, depending on the time available.
d. A panel can be present: composed of a parent, a teen, and a moderator from the organizers to give their different perspectives on the case. A synthesis can then be presented by the moderator.
e. Compare the case to what messages on sexuality teens get from media.
